The announcement on three high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad and the journey duration caught attention of people who hoped traveling to the cities in neighbouring cities would become hassle free. The three corridors are Hyderabad-Pune, Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai.

These were announced by the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, during Budget 2026-27 speech on Sunday (February 1, 2026), along with four more including Chennai-Bengaluru, Varanasi-Delhi, Varanasi-Siliguri and Mumbai-Pune.

The expected duration of the journey between Hyderabad to Bengaluru is 2 hours. And it is 2 hours 55 minutes on Hyderabad–Chennai corridor and 1 hour 55 minutes between Hyderabad and Pune, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday (February 2, 2026).

The maximum speed of the trains was proposed to be 350 kmph, with operational speed of 320 kmph.

South Central Railway (SCR) has already begun work on the final locational surveys for two corridors – Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai.

The three routes connecting Hyderabad are likely to be elevated and will follow an entirely new alignment, independent of the existing railway lines, top railway sources said.
