T.N. Assembly election: public holiday declared across the State on April 23

In view of the Assembly election scheduled across the State, the Tamil Nadu government has notified a public holiday on April 23, 2026, under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Following a communication from the Election Commission of India, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam issued a Government Order on Thursday (March 26, 2026), which was followed by the issuance of a gazette notification on the same day.
