A high-intensity explosion occurred in a slow-moving vehicle outside the Red Fort in central Delhi on Monday (November 10, 2025) evening, killing at least nine people and injuring more than 12 others in front of the Red Fort on Monday (November 10). Home Minister Amit Shah said that “all possibilities are being explored and a thorough investigation will be conducted taking all options into account.”
Following the explosion, the cause of which was yet to be disclosed by the police, a nationwide alert was sounded leading to enhanced security in crowded areas.

The incident came shortly after Jammu and Kashmir police announced on Monday (November 10) that it has busted an inter-State terror module where seven people were arrested and 2900 kgs explosives were seized over the past 15-days.
Home Minister Amit Shah said that around 7 p.m. a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 vehicle, due to which nearby vehicles were damaged, and few pedestrians were injured.
“The CCTV cameras in nearby areas are being scoured. All possibilities are being explored and investigated. All options will be investigated, and we will soon share the details with the public,” Mr. Shah said.
He later visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital where the injured are being treated.
“We are investigating from all angles. It is difficult to say what caused the incident. Till the samples recovered from the site are analysed by the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) and the National Security Guard (NSG), it is difficult to say anything. We do not rule out anything,” Mr. Shah said.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said, “A slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light outside Red Fort around 6:52 pm. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, Forensic Sciences, National Investigation Agency (NIA), are here… Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. We will update you with the exact figures shortly. The situation is being monitored. The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time. We are investigating the incident.”
According to the Delhi Fire Services, a call regarding a car blast was reported around 7 pm in front of the Red Fort. According to senior officials, the blast triggered a fire in several vehicles parked nearby and caused the death of at least 10 people.
Eyewitness Mohsin Ai told The Hindu that the blast was so strong that those around the main entrance of the monument were charred to death. “We tried lifting people up and putting them on e-rickshaws, but there was heavy smoke, and we could hardly see anything,” said Ai. He added that parts of vehicles and body parts of people were strewn across the street.
