In response to a strike call given by the Andhra Pradesh Speciality Hospitals’ Association (ASHA), private network hospitals partially suspended services under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme on Friday, October 10.

At Andhra Hospitals in Vijayawada, outpatient services were stopped while emergency care continued. Manipal Hospital, however, suspended both outpatient and emergency services from the morning. At the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, services were provided to the public as usual. Apollo Hospitals in Visakhapatnam did not take part in the strike, according to hospital authorities.

ASHA president K. Vijay Kumar said the association had not yet received any response from the government. He added that ASHA would not attend any discussions until the government releases the initially assured sum of ₹600 crore.
