Preparations are in full swing to hold the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 in Puri, Odisha, from December 5 to 7, 2025.
The Odisha Energy Department started mobilising resources and assigning responsibilities to officials for successful organisation of GELS.
The logo of the event, symbolising harmony between nature and innovation, has already been released by Union Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, along with Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment of Odisha.
The official website for the summit was launched as well.
The theme of the summit, ‘Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation,’ underscores three interlinked priorities: ensuring adequate and efficient power supply, achieving harmony between ecology and economy, and fostering innovation across the energy sector.

The summit marks the beginning of a long-term platform for dialogue between energy leaders from various states and national and global experts.
According to Energy Department, discussions will centre on meeting India’s rising energy demand, strengthening supply reliability and security, promoting sustainable growth while respecting ecological boundaries, and advancing the energy transition through frontier technologies and digital tools.
A key highlight will be deliberations on contemporary and emerging trends in the energy sector, including small and modular nuclear reactors, green hydrogen, and digital grid security.
The statement further says the high-impact initiative is being organised in partnership with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). This will be the first pan-India platform of its kind. Similar models conceived by TBI have delivered significant outcomes elsewhere, such as regional forums for education ministers in Latin America and a community of Energy Ministers in several African nations.
