Prateek Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son, passes away in Lucknow

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of the Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Bisht Yadav, passed away on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) morning.

He was rushed to Civil Hospital in Lucknow, where doctors declared him brought dead. He was 38 years old; the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The deceased was the stepbrother of the SP president Akhilesh Yadav.

U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death. “The sudden demise of Mr. Prateek Yadav, son of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and ‘Padma Vibhushan’, and husband of Mrs. Aparna Yadav, Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, is deeply saddening. Humble condolences,” wrote Mr. Adityanath, on X. 

“My condolences are with the bereaved family. We pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti,” his post further read.
