Following strong opposition by various organisations, including Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha, and the timely intervention by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi, who took up the issue with the competent authorities, Prasar Bharati has withdrawn its decision to temporarily shift the Regional News Unit of Akashvani Dharwad to Bengaluru.

On April 17 this year, Prasar Bharati issued order No. 21/01/2026-P-1 regarding temporarily shifting workload from RNU (Regional News Unit), Dharwad, to RNU Bengaluru with immediate effect.
