The mystery surrounding the death of a 28-year-old man, son of former Madikai grama panchayat president, has largely been cleared, with preliminary post-mortem findings indicating a medical cause.

K. Sreeraj, 28, was found dead on the roadside near Kanhirappoyil in Madikai on Thursday around 6:30 a.m. The body was discovered under unusual circumstances, initially raising suspicions of foul play.

However, a preliminary report following a post-mortem conducted at the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) suggested that the death was likely caused by fluid accumulation in the brain.

In view of the suspicious nature of the death, forensic experts and a police dog squad had examined the scene earlier. Subsequently, the Hosdurg police completed inquest proceedings and shifted the body to the MCH for detailed examination.

The body was handed over to relatives after completion of post-mortem procedures. The Hosdurg police have initiated further proceedings in the case.
