Political leaders condoled the passing away of V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, former Minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader, here on Tuesday.

Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said in a release that he had the opportunity to work with Mr. Kunju in the trade union sector, though they were from different political parties. He had immense experience as evident from his transformation from a student leader to an administrator and political leader, he said.

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan said that he was a good administrator, as seen in his work as Minister of Industries and Public Works in two terms of the United Democratic Front-led rule earlier. He was a people’s leader, he said.

K.C. Venugopal, All India Congress Committee general secretary, said that he had always taken care of the concerns of the common man in his capacity as a public servant. He was also instrumental in strengthening IUML and the United Democratic Front in central Kerala, he said.

Ramesh Chennithala, senior Congress leader, said that he had made major contributions to the Kerala society as former Minister for Industries and Public Works. Besides being part of the UDF, he was a good friend and brother to me, he said.

Sunny Joseph, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, said that his term as the Minister for Public Works in the Oommen Chandy government in 2011 witnessed major development in the State’s basic infrastructure sector.

Hibi Eden, MP, said in a communication that Mr. Kunju had made several contributions to the development of Ernakulam.
