Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to the police martyrs who had laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Speaking at the Police Martyrs’ Commemoration Day held in Amaravati in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Home Minister V. Anitha, and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, the DGP said the nation bows in gratitude to the brave-hearts who made the supreme sacrifice for peace and security.

“The police service is not merely a profession, it is a sacred calling,” he said, emphasising that the uniform stood for honour, duty, and sacrifice.

Mr. Gupta said that peace and security were the foundations of progress, adding that every police officer silently bears personal hardship to ensure public safety. He noted that 192 police personnel across India, including six from Andhra Pradesh, had sacrificed their lives this year.

He commended the State government and Mr. Naidu for their continuous support to modernisation of the police force and its welfare, even amid major developmental efforts.

Citing technology-driven reforms, Mr. Gupta said the Andhra Pradesh Police had adopted AI-enabled analytics, drone surveillance, and integrated digital policing systems to tackle modern challenges.
