A partially burnt body of a 27-year-old businessman was found near Himayathsagar in the early hours of Sunday (February 22, 2026). However, the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, with the police yet to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or murder.

The deceased was identified as Amir, a resident of Tolichowki. His body was discovered at around 2:30 a.m. Police teams reached the spot, shifted the body for postmortem examination and then launched an investigation.

According to Rajendranagar Inspector M. Muthu Yadav, a preliminary enquiry and examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity showed that Amir had arrived at the spot alone on his two-wheeler. He was seen carrying a bottle suspected to contain petrol, leading investigators to suspect that he may have ended his life by setting himself ablaze.

Officials are examining further evidence to piece together the sequence of events leading up to his death. “Postmortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of his death,” the official said. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
