The police seized 4 kg of ganja which had allegedly been smuggled into Villupuram and arrested two persons in this connection at Chinna Kottakuppam on Wednesday.

Police said following a tip-off, a team was conducting vehicle checks at Chinna Kottakuppam when they noticed the suspects — J. Stephen Raj, 36, of Reddiyarpalayam in Puducherry and Bobby Das, 36, of Bhubaneshwar — with a bag. On checking the bag, the police found bundles of ganja in it.

Police said initial inquiry revealed the duo had bought ganja from drug peddlers to sell it to individuals in Villupuram district. They were arrested and remanded in custody.
