The Muvattupuzha police in Kerala are searching for a man accused of allegedly assaulting another passenger inside a moving bus at Kacherithazham on Tuesday.

Sanu Janardhanan, 32, of Mangalathunada in Mazhuvannoor panchayat, was allegedly attacked inside the private bus operating on the Ernakulam-Muvattupuzha route around 3 p.m. He sustained serious injuries to his forehead and face and was rushed to Muvattupuzha General Hospital.

The assailant fled the bus when it slowed down and remains at large. Reportedly, the victim and his pregnant wife, who was carrying a toddler, were seated separately while travelling from the Muvattupuzha bus stand to Mangalathunada. The accused allegedly began harassing the woman and made obscene gestures. When Sanu confronted him, the man attacked him.

As the bus continued moving, passengers raised an alarm. When the vehicle eventually slowed down, the attacker escaped.

The Muvattupuzha police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspect.
