Police foil attempt to ‘burn down’ Manu Smriti in Ongole

Police intervened and prevented the members of Kula Nirmoolana Porata Samithi (KNPS), who reportedly attempted to burn down a copy of ‘Manu Smriti’ in Ongole, on Thursday.

Police stepped in, the moment Organisation for the Protection of Democratic Rights (OPDR) State president Chavali Sudhakar Rao, reportedly attempted to burn down the book. The protestors were shifted into a waiting police vehicle when they shouted slogans against the police and called for a concerted fight to protect the Constitutional rights granted to the Dalits and Bahujans.

KNPS leaders M. George, D. Ankaiah, A. Rambabu, P. Kondalu, MRPS leader T. Anand were also present.
