Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple in Madurai for the first time, and inaugurate projects worth more than ₹4,000 crore during his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, beginning with his arrival in Chennai on Saturday night.

Sources said Mr. Modi will meet party leaders at the Lok Bhavan in Chennai. On Sunday, Mr. Modi will travel to Puducherry before proceeding to Madurai, where he is scheduled to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various development projects. He will later address a public meeting organised by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the temple city. After attending the public meeting, he will return to Delhi at 6.10 p.m.

In a social media post on Saturday, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran said Mr. Modi will participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for projects of the National Highways Authority, Railways, and Prasar Bharati. The projects are valued at around ₹4,400 crore.

The Prime Minister will also offer prayers at the Thirupparankundram temple, marking his first visit to the shrine.

Ahead of the visit, Mr. Nagenthran said he inspected the convention grounds at Mandela Nagar, along with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State L. Murugan, to review arrangements for the public meeting.
