Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government will continue to extend its support to the accelerated development of Telangana in a more vigorous way as the Centre is of a view that development of the States formed the basis of his government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, a developed India.

“Governments of different parties in the States is natural in a democracy. Development of the States is of paramount importance for the comprehensive development of the country. My wish is to see Viksit Bharat 2047 realised,” the Prime Minister said. The Prime Minister was speaking after inaugurating/ laying foundation stones for a spree of developmental works with an estimated outlay of ₹9,400 crore in different parts of the State on Sunday (May 10, 2026).

Mr. Modi appeared relaxed when he responded in a jovial manner to the request made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Chief Minister recalled how Gujarat became a role model for the country in development during the 10 year rule of Mr. Modi as Chief Minister and wanted the same help to be replicated in Telangana.

‘It is better you join me’

“We are ready to give benefits in the same measure to Telangana. But the State will have to lose half of what it is securing from the Centre now and you (the Chief Minister) will not be able to achieve your goals. It is better you join me,” the Prime Minister said.

Projects launched

Mr. Modi referred to the projects like Zaheerabad Industrial Park (National Industrial Manufacturing Zone), IOC terminal at Malkapur and multi-tracking of railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada which he inaugurated or laid foundation stone for and said these major projects were aimed at making Telangana a manufacturing hub. They envisaged infrastructure development resulting in creation of huge employment opportunities besides strengthening connectivity of the State.

Zaheerabad industrial corridor

“India is currently on a reforms express and we have given a thrust to development of modern infrastructure simultaneously. The Zaheerabad industrial corridor for instance is part of Viksit Bharat objectives. The corridor will be developed into a smart city with world class infrastructure and advanced ICT network. All the facilities required by global investors will be created there,” he said.

The Central government was determined to spend thousands of crores for creating huge employment potential and leveraging the strength of the youth and the working class. He recalled how the textile industry of the country had glorious past and said steps had been initiated to revive the same.

PM Mitra Park at Warangal inaugurated

The PM Mitra Park at Warangal, which was inaugurated on Sunday, was sure to revolutionise the textile sector again and all the Central schemes/subsidies, including the PIL scheme, would be applicable to the units being set up there. Referring to advanced connectivity, he said the Centre had launched connectivity development in an unprecedented way. More than ₹2 lakh crore was being spent on the development of highways alone. Referring to the launch of four-laning works of Mahbubnagar-Gudeballur, part of the Hyderabad-Goa economic corridor, he said the national highway expansion would benefit both Telangana and Karnataka.

He recalled how his government had been giving priority to release of funds for development of infrastructure in Telangana and said the railway budget, which was less than ₹1,000 crore for Telangana in the erstwhile undivided State, had been enhanced to ₹5,500 crore. There were works worth over ₹50,000 crore in progress in the State as of now with five Vande Bharat and six Amrut Bharat expresses operating from Telangana.

The Centre had given equal priority to energy security and had hence, launched the Malkapur terminal which would cater to the needs of Telangana and strengthen the supply chain infrastructure here. “We are working on ethanol blending, piped gas networks on an unprecedented scale as judicious use of petrol is the need of the hour to save foreign exchange as well as minimise disruptions in the event of a war,” he said.

The Prime Minister said youth of Telangana had huge aspirations in playing their part in achieving ‘Viksit Telangana’ on the lines of the progress towards Viksit Bharat – 2047 goals.
