A plywood factory at Puliyampilly near Vengola in Perumbavoor was gutted in fire on Tuesday (February 3, 2026). No one was injured in the accident though materials including wood veneer, plywood, panel boards, and machinery were gutted, causing significant monetary losses.

The fire that broke out around 10 a.m. was extinguished by eight units of firefighters from Pattimattom, Perumbavoor, Aluva, Thrikkakara, Kothamangalam, and Muvattupuzha.

In another incident, a moving car caught fire near Edappally Toll Junction on Tuesday evening. The owner of the car, who was driving home, escaped unhurt as he managed to stop and exit the vehicle in time. He noticed smoke billowing from the bonnet and immediately pulled over and got out, moments before the blaze engulfed the car around 6.30 p.m. Fire and rescue services units from Eloor and Thrikkakara extinguished the blaze.
