The Suburban Train Travellers Association has urged the South Central Railway (SCR) authorities to upgrade the Neredmet railway station to enable stoppages for mainline trains. The association said the station is connected by good approach roads and has adequate public transport facilities nearby.

Association general secretary Noor Ahmed Ali noted that several mainline trains have recently had their points of origin and termination shifted to the newly built Cherlapalli station. Similarly, trains originating from Kazipet and Nalgonda and heading towards Nizamabad have been diverted via the newly developed R.K. Nagar station, where all trains are expected to halt once the full-length platform is completed.

These changes are primarily intended to accommodate local suburban trains, he said. In the process, many trains coming from Vikarabad and proceeding towards Kazipet and Nalgonda have been diverted via the Sanathnagar–Ghatkesar bypass line. However, the absence of a station with platforms long enough to handle 24-coach trains on this stretch has caused significant inconvenience to passengers, he added.

As a result, commuters are being forced to travel to Cherlapalli or Lingampalli to board or alight from long-distance trains. Mr. Ali also appealed to the railway authorities to provide stoppages for all express trains at Malkajgiri railway station, given its importance and the heavy passenger traffic it handles, according to a press release.
