Pinarayi Vijayan accuses UDF government of ‘surrender’ to RSS agenda

Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday accused the United Democratic Front (UDF) government of “blatant surrender to the RSS agenda” over its written submission before the Supreme Court that the State’s University Acts must conform to the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations.

In a post on X, Mr. Vijayan alleged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) had for a decade defended Keralam’s federal rights and university autonomy, while resisting attempts to use Governors and UGC regulations to undermine State laws.

He alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) government has abandoned that position, which he claimed would allegedly open the State’s universities to Governor control and advance the Sangh Parivar’s project of centralisation and saffronisation.

He added that the government’s stand is a dangerous capitulation that strikes at federalism and university autonomy and Keralam’s constitutional, secular and democratic foundations.
