A 26-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding luxury car allegedly driven rashly by a student in HSR Layout during the early hours of December 27.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on 27th Cross Road in HSR Layout. The victim, identified as Santosh Doddagoudar, a native of Bailhongal in Belagavi district, was working as a delivery executive in Bengaluru.
According to the police, Santosh had dinner at an eatery and was walking along the road when the car, driven at high speed by Abdul Rehman, rammed him, before crashing into several parked vehicles, causing extensive damage.
Santosh suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
The HSR Layout Traffic Police have registered a case. The accused has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. The police have also taken the driver’s blood samples to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Further investigation is under way.
