A man in his late 50s was killed in a hit-and-run incident early on Friday (May 8, 2026) morning on MG Road in the heart of the city, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Srinivas, aged between 55 and 60, according to the police. However, they are yet to ascertain the identity of his family members. The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m., a few meters before Anil Kumble Circle.

A preliminary police probe suggested that the deceased had used the washroom near the MG Road boulevard walkway and was crossing over to the other side of the road when a reportedly speeding car struck him. However, the driver did not stop and drove away.
Srinivas suffered multiple injuries to his head, hands, and legs, and died on the spot. Investigators are yet to ascertain the whereabouts of the deceased before the incident. A senior police officer told The Hindu that they have launched a manhunt for the accused and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the driver’s identity.
The Cubbon Park Traffic Police have filed an FIR under Section 106(1) of the BNS (causing death by negligence) and provisions related to hit-and-run offences. The police have also invoked the relevant section of the Motor Vehicles Act dealing with the duty of a driver in the event of an accident causing injury to a person. Anoop A. Shetty, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West, visited the spot and directed officers to trace the accused at the earliest.
