Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forest, Environment, Science and Technology K. Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday (December 02, 2025) called upon officials to place strong emphasis on recognising, protecting, and encouraging innovative ideas emerging from the grassroots.

He stressed that the government must immediately enable patent rights for newly identified inventions and extend institutional support to help innovators grow. “If we can provide recognition, safety and encouragement, a new generation of inventors will emerge from the village level,” he said.

Reviewing the activities of the State Science and Technology Department with senior officials at the Camp Office on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed the department to prepare an action plan aimed at contributing actively to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Made in India and Make in India.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan directed the Science and Technology Department to prepare an action plan aimed at contributing to Made in India and Make in India initiatives.

He reviewed the initiatives undertaken during the past year, including the functioning of the Swami Jnananda Regional Science Centre in Rajahmundry and programmes for scouting and promoting new inventors across the State.

The State must create strong linkages that connect innovators with industrial entrepreneurs, IT start-ups, researchers, academia, and NRIs, he observed. He stated that support must go beyond awards and recognition and extend to protection of intellectual rights through timely patents. If required, preference for innovators will be discussed with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in MSME parks to bring new ideas to market, he said.

Citing the example of a Chenchu youth from Nallamala forests who fought against uranium mining to save his village, and the skill-based innovations possible among coastal fishing communities, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the State must identify real needs and promote technology solutions useful to society.

He directed officials to prepare an action plan with industrialists, NRIs, and university professors to strengthen and commercialise inventions and bring the talent of Andhra Pradesh youth into the national spotlight in the coming year.
