A 25-year-old man was killed and his brother sustained injuries after being allegedly pushed off a moving train by a co-passenger near Ghatkesar railway station in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Harsh Chandwani, aged 25, who died from multiple injuries, and Ajay Ramchandra Chandwani, aged 30, who sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Gandhi Hospital. Both were residents of Bairagarh Huzoor in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The incident was reported around 12:50 a.m. on October 7 when passengers aboard the Dakshin Express (Train No. 12721), travelling from Secunderabad to Kazipet, pulled the alarm chain after witnessing the attack.

RPF Head Constable M. Laxmipathy, who was on escort duty along with Constable S. K. Saroj, said they rushed to the third general coach after the train stopped. There, several passengers had apprehended a man who had allegedly kicked two passengers sitting near the coach door, causing them to fall off the moving train.

The accused was deboarded from the train and handed over to the Secunderabad railway police. Officials said the man has refused to reveal his identity and allegedly appeared to be in a disturbed state of mind. He was found without any identification documents.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
