Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi has appealed to the general public to avail the option of self-enumeration in Census 2027, which recently began.

In a press release, Mr. Joshi said that for the first time, the option of ‘self-enumeration’ has been given to the public, and he has already uploaded the details of his family using the option. “It is not just data, but a little service in the progress of the country,” he noted.

He said that in Karnataka, the self-enumeration option is available until April 15.

How to participate

People should first visit the portal se.census.gov.in and log into the system using the OTP sent to their registered mobile number. Subsequently, they will have to fill in the details of their family members, and after registration, they should safely keep the ‘SE ID’ with them. When the enumerators visit houses, the SE ID has to be given to them to confirm the entries.

The Minister said that as responsible citizens, everyone should participate in self-enumeration and contribute towards nation-building.
