AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Wednesday held consultations with district secretaries of his party as part of the preparation for the Assembly election.

The consultations took place a few days after Mr. Palaniswami’s meeting with Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Asked about the AIADMK’s seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP, the party’s organisation secretary and former Minister D. Jayakumar told reporters that this was a matter handled by some others in the party, as he was a part of the poll manifesto committee.

Mr. Jayakumar advised the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay to begin holding press conferences and cautioned him not to make “derisive comments” about the AIADMK.
