AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday lashed out at the DMK regime for a couple of incidents of alleged gang rape of two women, both reported in the city.

In a statement, he said that in one of the incidents, the husband and the child of the woman were murdered. Mr. Palaniswami blamed the police for not acting against offenders, for which, he contended, the functioning of those in power was responsible.

Meanwhile, in a post on his social media handle, the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran criticised the reported observations of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder Thol. Thirumavalavan regarding Rajaraja Chola I who built the Brihadeeswara temple in Thanjavur, and his successor, Rajendra Chola I, who built a similar temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram and urged him to stop making sweeping statements against rulers of Tamil land.
