SIR: Chamarajanagar DC asks political parties to verify voters marked ASDDO

Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajanagar Shreeroopa has asked representatives of political parties in Karnataka to verify the voters identified under ASDDO category during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the district.

More than 84,000 voters had been identified under ASDDO — Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead or Others — category in Chamarajanagar district. ASDDO is a category under which information about the voters is not available.

Chairing a meeting with representatives of various recognised national and State political parties, Ms. Shreeroopa reviewed the distribution of enumeration forms and the digitisation work being carried out as part of the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls for 2026.

“Out of the total 8,80,224 voters in Assembly constituencies, filled enumeration forms from 7,96,096 voters had been received and digitised as of 8 a.m. on August 1,” she said while asking the political party representatives to verify the available information relating to more than 84,000 voters identified as absent, shifted, deceased, having duplicate registrations, or categorised under ‘Others’ due to insufficient information. 

“Appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the rules based on the verified information,” she said.

August 8 deadline

Pointing out that August 8 is the last date for submitting filled enumeration forms as part of the SIR, Ms. Shreeroopa urged the political parties to create awareness among voters who have not yet submitted their forms, asking them to hand them over to their Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and obtain an acknowledgement.

The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17, and voters should ensure that their names are included, she said. She also appealed to political parties to spread awareness through their appointed Booth Level Agents (BLA-2s), and extend full co-operation to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Representatives of political parties, including H.S. Thontadaryaswamy, N. Nagaiah, S. Balasubrahmanya, M. Chikkamahadevu, and Syed Akram, along with the Election Shirastedar, and other officials, were present at the meeting.
