Overnight downpour across Telangana sees Kamareddy record 182.8 mm rainfall, Hyderabad’s Saroornagar at 113 mm

Heavy overnight rain lashed several parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, between Monday (August 3, 2026) and Tuesday (August 4, 2026) morning, with some locations recording more than 100 mm of rainfall.

In Hyderabad, the overnight downpour led to waterlogging in several parts of the city, particularly in the eastern and southern stretches. As rainwater flooded roads, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency and DRF teams were on the ground to clear the waterlogging points including at Rajendranagar, Masab Tank, Quthbullapur, and Attapur.

According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), Saroornagar recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 113 mm, followed by Alkapuri at 109.5, LB Nagar at 95.8, mm, 83.8 mm in Chandrayangutta, 83.5 mm in Bandlaguda, 80.5 mm in Nagole, 80.3 mm in Vanasthalipuram, 71.8 mm in Hayathnagar, 70.5 mm in Adibatla, and 70 mm in Shamshabad.

Electricity went on a blink for hours together in some areas forcing residents to take to social media to raise the issue. “Power cut since YESTERDAY in Jai Hind Nagar Colony, Shaikpet, Hyderabad — many hours with no power and no update. We pay our electricity bills and taxes on time, yet left completely in the dark. This is unacceptable for a city like Hyderabad. Restore power NOW,” wrote one resident on X.

The rains were considerably heavier in parts of the State, with Kamareddy district receiving some of the highest rainfall during the period. TGDPS data showed that Kamareddy recorded 182.8 mm of rainfall as of 8 a.m., the highest among the locations reported. This was followed by 127 mm in Pitlam (Kamareddy), 124.8 mm in Maqdumpur (Kamareddy), 118 mm in Sarvapur (Kamareddy), 115 mm in Kodangal (Vikarabad), 110 mm in Sirgapoor (Sangareddy) and 105.8 mm in Tekulapally (Bhadradri Kothagudem).
