Open houses were held by Anantapur, Kurnool and Nandyal police as part of the ongoing Police Commemoration Day to create awareness among schoolchildren about the weapons and equipment used by the police in law enforcement.

Inaugurating the open house in the district police headquarters, Anantapur Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh said that students should be aware of the weapons and equipment used by the police department. The weapons and equipment were put on display for the schoolchildren and visitors.

Mr. Jagadeesh, who displayed the weapons and explained about their usages, said that they were taking up various programmes for the welfare of the martyred police personnel. He added that the department would be taking up various services programmes across the district during the commemoration week, which would be held till October 31.

“Consider police as your family and approach them for any assistance or redressal of problems. We are here to serve you,” the SP said. The weapons that were put on display included .22 rifle, .303 rifle, AK 47s, 12 bore pump axis gun, drone cameras, body wear cameras and Vajra vehicles.

Meanwhile, in Kurnool, SP Vikrant Patil visited the open house held at Parade Grounds in the district police office. He said that creating awareness among students on the functioning of the police would inculcate the habit of social service in them. Students can also know about the challenges faced by the police in their day-to-day activities, the SP added.

In the open house held by Nandyal police, Honey, the district police sniffer dog, grabbed the attention of the children. After giving a ceremonial salute to SP Suneel Sheoran, Honey displayed her skills in detecting explosive material. The students were also made aware of the services of sniffer dogs in investigating murders and thefts.

Meanwhile, Allagadda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K. Pramod conducted a mega blood donation camp, where the DSP and 27 other police personnel donated blood.
