One person died when a car was accidentally driven into the sea near Antarvedi in Sakinetipalli mandal in Konaseema district on Wednesday night. The accident occurred while the occupants were celebrating New Year on the beach.
The deceased was identified as N. Sridhar (34), a native of Kakinada. Two of his friends – Jaya Krishna and Surya Kiran – escaped unhurt, according to the police.
Sridhar, who was behind the wheel, drove the car into the sea at a high speed and got trapped inside the vehicle. His friends jumped out. Police retrieved the vehicle on Thursday. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
