West Godavari District Collector Chadalawada Nagarani has ordered the suspension of several officials for failing to prevent the illegal installation of a statue and construction of a temple on government land at Prathipadu village in Pentapadu mandal.

The construction was carried out on the said land in violation of the directives of Andhra Pradesh High Court, leading to contempt proceedings.

In a communication to the Superintendent of Police, the Collector stated that unauthorised construction continued despite repeated instructions from the district administration and stop-work orders issued by revenue officials.

The land, identified as a property of Zilla Parishad, had no permission for any religious structure. Based on the RDO’s report, the Collector ordered the suspension of the Panchayat Secretary, Deputy MPDO, Village Revenue Officer, and Tahsildar for dereliction of duty.

A show-cause notice was issued to the RDO and DLPO, Tadepalligudem, for supervisory lapses.
