The National Medical Commission (NMC) in its latest notification has deleted two important provisions for MBBS medical colleges across India. It has said that the objective in Undergraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 (UG-MSR 2023) “Colleges seeking increased number of seats cannot exceed a total of 150 MBBS students from the year 2024-25’’ — shall be deleted.
Additionally, the requirement of medical colleges needing 100 MBBS seats per 10 lakh population in States and Union Territories was also deleted.
