NIMHANS will host the fourth edition of its flagship public awareness initiative, Mental Health Santhe 4.0, on October 17 and 18 at the NIMHANS Convention Centre. The two-day event, open from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., will bring together mental health organisations, professionals, caregivers, and the public in a collective effort to promote mental well-being and suicide prevention.

Organised by the Department of Mental Health Education in collaboration with several departments of NIMHANS — including Psychiatry, Psychiatric Social Work, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Services, and the NIMHANS Centre for Well-Being — the event is supported under the Swachhta Action Plan 2025–26 of the Kayakalp Scheme by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

This year’s theme, ‘Community Supporting Mental Wellbeing Together’, coincides with the global observance of World Mental Health Day 2025 and underscores the importance of collective responsibility in nurturing mental resilience.

The ‘Santhe’, inspired by the Kannada word for marketplace, will feature interactive stalls, educational sessions, and hands-on learning experiences. Highlights include film screenings, information booths on mental health and rehabilitation services, access to helplines, and even the opportunity to hold a real brain specimen for experiential learning.

A unique attraction will be the ‘Poetry Pharmacy’ booth, where visitors can choose healing poems in scrolls or bottles and witness poet Mariyam Saigal craft personalised verses live, inspired by individual reflections and emotions.

Organisations working in mental health or suicide prevention can register to participate by writing to mentalhealthsanthe.nimhans@gmail.com or contacting 080-2699 5156.
