A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the 20 Madras Regiment premises in Bollarum, Secunderabad Cantonment, on Friday (September 4, 2026), as investigators continued to probe the disappearance of 12 firearms and ammunition from the Army establishment.
The team visited the scene of offence and met the investigators inside the Cantonment. The visit comes as the investigation has widened, with Army personnel, including Agniveers, sepoys and others who had access to the premises, being questioned. Military Intelligence and multiple units of the Telangana police are also assisting in the probe.
The firearms were reported missing after the locks of the Kote and Battalion Magazine were found broken on August 31. The weapons had last been physically accounted for on August 30 evening. Police have ruled out the involvement of Agniveers in the theft.
The investigation is being conducted from within the defence area, with officials maintaining confidentiality citing the sensitive nature of the case and national security concerns.
