Newly elected local body representatives take oath in Kollam

The 56-member council of the Kollam Corporation was officially sworn in during a ceremony held at the QAC Grounds on Sunday. District Collector N. Devidas administered the oath of office to the senior-most representative, Dr. Udaya Sukumaran (Thangassery division). Following the official ceremony Corporation convened its inaugural council session and Dr. Sukumaran presided over the meeting. The event was attended by officials including ADM G. Nirmal Kumar, Corporation Secretary S.S. Saji, and various returning officers and political leaders.
The 27 newly elected members of the Kollam district panchayat officially assumed office following the swearing-in ceremony held at the Jayan Memorial Hall. District Collector and Election Officer N. Devidas administered the oath to the senior-most member, Saroja Devi (Karavaloor division), who subsequently presided over the council’s inaugural meeting. The event saw the participation of key officials, including ADM G. Nirmal Kumar, LSGD Joint Director S. Subodh, and former district panchayat president P.K. Gopan.
The Kottarakkara municipality entered a new governance cycle as the 30 elected representatives took their oaths in a ceremony attended by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal. Returning Officer K. Anu formalised the induction by swearing in senior representative D. Ramakrishna Pillai, who subsequently led the council’s inaugural session. The event, that marks the start of a new administrative term, was attended by municipal secretary Manikandan and various political party leaders.
