Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin told the Assembly on Thursday that new applications received at the ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps for the monthly entitlement of ₹1,000 under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme will be scrutinised by November 30, and eligible women beneficiaries will receive their entitlement starting December 15.
Speaking in the Assembly, Mr. Udhayanidhi said under the KMUT scheme, a monthly entitlement of ₹1,000 has been provided to around 1.14 crore women beneficiaries in the State over the last 26 months. Nearly ₹30,000 crore has been disbursed under the scheme since its inception. To ensure that more women benefit from the scheme, certain conditions have been relaxed.
Meanwhile, to make government services more accessible, the State government launched ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps on June 19. The government has planned to hold 10,000 camps in both rural and urban areas by November 15. As of October 15, a total of 9,055 camps have been conducted, he said.
The Chief Minister had already announced that applications under the KMUT scheme would be accepted at these camps. So far, a total of 28 lakh women have submitted applications for the entitlement at the ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps. Officials from the Revenue Department have been conducting field inspections to scrutinise the new applications, he added.
