The verdict in the Pothundy twin murder case will be pronounced on Monday (July 6, 2026). Final arguments in the trial were completed last week, and Additional District and Sessions Court-IV Judge Kenneth George will deliver the judgment.

The lone accused, Chenthamara of Thiruthampadam, Boyan Colony at Pothundy, Nenmara, is already serving double life imprisonment for the murder of his neighbour Sajitha, who was hacked to death on August 31, 2019. The same court had earlier tried and convicted him in that case.

While on bail in that case, Chenthamara killed Sajitha’s husband Sudhakaran and his mother Lakshmi at Boyan Colony on January 27, 2025. The police said the motive was his enmity towards Sajitha and her family.

Investigators also flagged lapses on the part of the police, including breach of bail conditions when the accused re-entered the colony.

Alathur DySP N. Muraleedharan led the investigation. M.K. Vijayakumar appeared for the prosecution, while Jacob Mathew and Mohammed Hashim represented the defence.
