CM Vijay instructed Ministers Aadhav Arjuna, Rajmohan, R. Vinoth, and K. Thennarasu to go to New Delhi to coordinate and monitor rescue and relief measures in coordination with the Union government

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday (August 27, 2026) instructed Ashish Kumar, Resident Commissioner, Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, along with a team of officials, to proceed to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu to oversee relief and rescue measures in coordination with the Nepali authorities and facilitate the safe return of survivors from Tamil Nadu.
A total of 103 people from Tamil Nadu who had gone on a pilgrimage were stranded in Nepal due to devastating floods on Wednesday (August 26). Several of them were feared missing. Against this backdrop, Mr. Vijay held an emergency meeting with Ministers and officials at the Secretariat in Chennai.
Mr. Vijay also instructed Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Aadhav Arjuna, Minister for School Education Rajmohan, Minister for Agriculture R. Vinoth and Minister for Non-Resident Tamils Welfare K. Thennarasu to go to New Delhi to coordinate and monitor rescue and relief measures in coordination with the Union government, facilitate the safe and speedy return of those rescued, and extend immediate medical assistance to those in need.
