The National Commission for Women (NCW), in collaboration with the Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Rachakonda Police, conducted a ‘Mahila Jansunwai’ grievance hearing at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate auditorium on Monday (September 15, 2025).

The session, led by NCW Member Dr Archana Majumdar, took up 56 cases spanning 2023 to 2025, involving domestic violence, dowry harassment, sexual harassment and complex NRI marital disputes.

Several women spoke of abuse by NRI spouses and struggles in child custody matters. Officials directed departments to ensure follow-up within a week and documented all complaints to strengthen monitoring and accountability.

Alongside grievance redressal, the NCW and police highlighted initiatives to protect women from violence and harassment. Victims are being guided towards police assistance, hospitals, legal services and counselling. The Commission also takes suo motu action on issues reported in the media.

Authorities said police officers have undergone training on gender sensitisation, women’s laws and capacity building to improve case handling. With online abuse becoming a growing concern, NCW and police have been educating women on cyber safety through webinars, social media campaigns and outreach programmes.

The session was attended by senior officials including Charu Sinha, ADGP, CID Telangana; Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu; Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mohanty; Rangareddy district Collector C. Narayana Reddy; Additional CP Hyderabad P. Viswa Prasad; State Women Commission Chairperson Neralla Sharadha; senior IPS officers, Women Safety Wing representatives, district welfare officials and NCW counsellors. Their presence underlined inter-agency collaboration to strengthen support systems for women.
