Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh announced that the Nandi theatre festivals will be organised soon as part of the State government initiative to revive the cultural sector, which took a back seat during the YSRCP regime.

Participating as chief guest in the ‘Krishna Theeram Kavitha Haram’ programme jointly organised by NTR district administration, Tourism Department and literary organisation Malle Theega, in Vijayawada on Sunday, the Minister said Nandi awards would also be presented soon.

Mr. Durgesh, along with NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha, travelled on a boat in the Krishna river and attentively listened to poems recited by 51 poets.

The Minister also pointed out that discussions were held with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu regarding the installation of a statue of Telugu poet Tikkana Somayaji in SPSR Nellore district.

Impressed by the poetic recitals, the Minister said similar programmes would be organised on the Penna and Godavari river banks too. He assured the poets that the government will work for their welfare.
