Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ICAR’s Indian Institute of Millets Research (ICAR-IIMR), Hyderabad, to promote millet-based food initiatives at the HKMCF Hi-Tech Kitchen in Narsingi, Hyderabad.

This collaboration combines HKMCF’s extensive experience in large-scale food service and welfare programs with IIMR’s expertise in millet research, nutrition, and value addition, paving the way for healthier and more sustainable dietary practices.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji said that millets are not only deeply rooted in India’s traditional food culture but are also vital for addressing present-day challenges related to health, sustainability, and food security.

Director of ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, C. Tara Satyavathi emphasised that ICAR-IIMR has been at the forefront of advancing millet-based technologies, nutrition research, and value-added products. She noted that this partnership provides an effective platform to mainstream millets through public feeding and welfare programs.

The MoU also aims to connect millet-growing farmers with large dedicated kitchens like HKMCF for the supply of millets directly from farms, ensuring the quality of raw materials and enhancing farmers’ income.
