A 33-year-old private employee was killed and another person sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle lost control and crashed near Palamakula village in Shamshabad on Friday, September 18.

The deceased was identified as Madhav Taterao Chavan, a native of Bhutmugli in Maharashtra’s Latur who was residing in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar district.

According to Shamshabad police, Madhav and Prashanth Gnaneshwar Unsanale, both of whom had been working at a pharmaceutical company in Jadcherla and living there, travelled to Budwel around 11 a.m. on Friday to visit a relative.

Later, the two started their return journey to Jadcherla on a motorcycle, with Prashanth riding and Madhav travelling pillion.

At around 4 p.m., when they reached Race Grand Dhaba near Palamakula village, Prashanth was allegedly riding at excessive speed and negligently, when he lost control of the motorcycle, causing both men to fall on the road.

The two sustained severe injuries to their heads and other parts of the body. Bystanders alerted emergency services and they were taken in a 108 ambulance to the Government Hospital in Shamshabad. They were subsequently shifted to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad for further treatment. Madhav died around 10.40 p.m., while Prashanth is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

Following a complaint lodged by Madhav’s cousin, Shamshabad police registered a case and began an investigation.
