The historic Venugopala Swamy temple at Moolapet in Nellore district is being renovated at a cost of ₹16.7 crore. The works were initiated under the supervision of Tridandi Srimannarayana Chinna Jeeyar six months back.

Ministers Ponguru Narayana (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy (Endowments) reached the temple on Sunday and discussed the steps to be undertaken to ensure its planned development.

The Ministers inspected the civil engineering models and designs and gave instructions to the Endowments authorities. Apart from the main temple, the foundation stone for the Lord Narasimha temple has already been laid. The four ‘mada streets’ around the temple will be widened and developed to accommodate processions and meet the rising pilgrim influx.

“The temple will be readied and thrown open to the devotees in the next 18 months,” both the Ministers said.

Nellore Mayor in-charge P. Roopkumar Yadav, Commissioner Y.O. Nandan, former municipal Vice-Chairperson Tallapaka Anuradha and city TDP president M. Madhu were present.
