Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh chaired a review meeting on Monday to discuss measures to minimise traffic disruptions and waterlogging during monsoon, and directed officials to adopt a proactive approach to ensure smooth movement of vehicles across the commissionerate.

The Commissioner instructed officials to continuously monitor waterlogging-prone areas and coordinate with the departments concerned to resolve issues without delay. He also reviewed the deployment of around 150 personnel from the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units for traffic duties across various police stations and issued guidelines for their effective utilisation.

The meeting, held virtually from the mini-conference hall at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, was attended by SCSC CEO Naved, Traffic Administration Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Narendar, Madhapur Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police Chandrashekhar Reddy, besides Traffic DCPs, ADCPs, ACPs and Station House Officers.

Commissioner Ramesh reviewed the performance of the personnel deployed for traffic management, including their interaction with the public, assigned responsibilities, traffic regulation, public service delivery and response strategies during monsoon. He suggested measures to improve the efficiency of their duties.

The top cop also directed officials to initiate strict action against vehicles obstructing free left turns and U-turns at junctions, as well as motorists driving against the flow of traffic. He also instructed that special barricades be installed at locations where required.

Calling for the preparation of a comprehensive master document identifying waterlogging-prone locations to facilitate a permanent solution, the officer directed that traffic police be consulted and diversion plans implemented before road-cutting works are taken up.

He also reviewed the progress of infrastructure works at Wipro Junction, DLF Junction, Shapoor Nagar, Kukatpally Y-Junction, Miyapur and Nizampet, directing the concerned officials to expedite the projects.
