Light to moderate showers are likely to continue in parts of Kerala, especially in southern Kerala and hilly areas bordering the Western Ghats, triggered by a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Saturday, a low-pressure area has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast. Further, a cyclonic circulation lies over the Southeast Arabian Sea off the south Kerala coast at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of the systems, parts of the State are likely to experience isolated showers for the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued for Idukki on Sunday, and Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki were put on yellow alert on Monday, warning of isolated heavy rains.
