Miscreants threatened to blast three courts in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (January 8, 2026). However, police did not find any explosive material in the courts.

The accused had sent mails to the judges stating that bombs were planted in Eluru, Ananthapur and Madanapalli courts and created panic. The mailer threatened that the bombs may blast at any time.

“We searched thoroughly the court premises. However, bombs or explosive material were not found so far. Investigation is going on and there is no need to panic,” Eluru district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore told The Hindu.

On receiving information, the Bomb Detection (BD) and the sniffer dog squads conducted checking after vacating the court buildings. Searches were continuing when the reports last came in.

“All the staff, judges, advocates, petitioners and other public were sent out of the court premises as a precautionary measure. We are searching the offices, court hall, waiting halls and other facilities in the courts,” said a BD team officer. Meanwhile, the Cybercrime police are trying to trace the mailer.

“We are trying to identify from whose mail, IP address and from which place the mails were sent to the judges,” Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore said.
