Minister for Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar directed officials to ensure comprehensive monsoon preparedness across Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare residential educational institutions, with focus on student health, hygiene, safety and academics.

Reviewing the functioning of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society and Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society on Wednesday, he instructed officials to strengthen infrastructure, hostel accommodation, classrooms, kitchens and teaching staff.

Temporary appointments should be made wherever teacher shortages exist to prevent disruption of academic activities, he said.

Ahead of the monsoon, Mr. Laxman Kumar called for preventive measures against dengue, malaria, viral fevers and water-borne diseases. He directed institutions to ensure safe drinking water, regular sanitation, hot water facilities, and adequate medical support. Special emphasis was placed on hygiene and menstrual health facilities in girls’ hostels.
