State Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana assured to resolve all major issues of people in Nellore. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of new roadworks at Sunday Market and at an underbridge near Atmakur bus stand in the city, here on Monday.

Addressing the media, he said that the coalition government has come up with permanent solutions to the solve the problems that exist during rainy season at Sunday Market and Atmakur bus stand. The road construction work at Atmakur bus stand underbridge will be completed with a cost of ₹2 crore in 44 days, he said.

“As Atmakur bus stand is a congested area, road work on one side has been taken up in the first phase to avoid traffic problems. The road will be inaugurated on December 31 and the foundation stone for the road work amounting to ₹1 crore on the other side will be laid on the same day,” the Minister said.

Similarly, the government will construct a new road at Sunday Market, which often gets stagnated during the rainy season. Mr. Narayana said, “The local TDP leaders brought this to my notice and the main reason is the blockage of drains. After field inspection, it was found that the encroachments on drains was the key reason for water stagnation.”

“Both the traders and people are facing difficulties. Uyyala, Ramireddy, Mallappa and Gachu canals should be widened. For this, the encroachments on the canals should be removed. If the encroachers cooperate, the civic staff will remove the silt in the canals to ensure that the rainwater flows smoothly, and there will be no chance of rainwater stagnation in the market again,” he added.
