Notwithstanding the suspension of Aarogyasri services as announced by the Telangana Aarogyasri Network Hospitals Association (TANHA), the Health Department on Wednesday said that medical care under the scheme continued largely uninterrupted across the State.

According to officials, 87% of private and corporate hospitals continued to provide treatment to patients covered under the State-run health insurance programme. Services were stopped in only 13% of hospitals, the department said. Of the 477 hospitals empanelled under Aarogyasri, 62 reported non-participation while 415 remained operational.

Aarogyasri CEO Uday Kumar reiterated his appeal to the hospitals on strike to resume medical services in the interest of patients. “We request all hospitals to continue treating beneficiaries without disruption,” he said.

Officials also noted that the overall impact on healthcare delivery was minimal. Against a daily average of 844 procedures recorded in the past two weeks, 799 procedures were performed under Aarogyasri on Wednesday. To ensure patients did not face inconvenience, government hospitals were instructed to make necessary arrangements to handle any additional load, the Health department said.
