Vizianagaram Parliament Member Kalisetti Appala Naidu on Sunday (January 11, 2026) said that the migration of youngsters from North Andhra districts such as Srikakulam and Vizianagaram will come down significantly as Bhogapuram international airport would act as a growth engine and economic hub providing direct and indirect employment for thousands of unemployed youth of the region. The airport is expected to be ready by June 30, 2026, as per the tentative schedule.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said that he had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to establish more skill development centres to train the youngsters and meet the expectations of the companies that would come up in and around the airport. He said that the Maintenance-Repair and Overhaul facility for flights would ensure quick progress in Visakhapatnam-Bhogapuram-Srikakulam stretch apart from surrounding areas of Vizianagaram district.

“Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts are known for large-scale migration of youngsters for many decades. For the first time, they don’t need to shift to metro cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and other places, as they would get employment locally with the construction of the international airport, MRO facility, Star Hotels, MSME Parks, Google data centre, and other companies in Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam cities. The youngsters should also improve their skills to get decent job opportunities in North Andhra itself,” said Mr. Appala Naidu.

“I have been receiving many petitions from youngsters for jobs during Praja Darbars being conducted in different places of Vizianagaram Assembly constituency. Their dreams will become a reality very soon as all developmental activities are set to take off in the year 2026 itself,” he added.

Mr. Appala Naidu said that he had requested the Chief Minister for the quick construction of all roads to ensure hassle- free journey for air passengers and others. “The development of roads will further boost the economic activity between Vizianagaram-Bhogapuram and other routes. The brisk construction activity will also take place and ensure jobs for thousands of labourers who also don’t need to migrate to cities in future,” he added.
